Empowering Valley Students #BeMore
Founded in December of 2000, the Mahoning Valley College Access Program, Inc. is an organization whose mission is to increase the number of students in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties who continue their education beyond high school. The Mahoning Valley College Access Program works to promote college and other post-secondary training as necessary and obtainable for all students.
Support for Students and Families #BeMore
By 2025 60% of Americans will need a college degree, or other workforce credentials. Currently in Ohio, 44% of adults age 25-29 hold a post-secondary degree. Concentrating in Youngstown and Warren City schools, MVCAP is working to change that. Providing assistance to students entering college and training programs helps put students on track to succeed after high school. The program strives to overcome some of the obstacles Mahoning Valley students face in seeking higher education.
Impacting the Future #BeMore
To overcome these obstacles, MVCAP provides college access services including college admissions assistance, financial aid advisement, early awareness activities, and Last Dollar Scholarships. Since 2014, MVCAP has provided education and services to over 1,400 students in grades 9-12 each year. More than 150 participating seniors go on to enroll in either a 2-year or 4-year college, each year.
