From The Director…

On October 7, 2017, we held our inaugural October Harvest Progressive Dinner fundraiser, benefiting our work with students in Warren and Youngstown schools. We chose to hold this event in Courthouse Square in part because of so many wonderful businesses and organizations located here. What we did not expect was the incredibly warm reception that these venues gave us, both during the planning process and on the night of the event.

During our event, our guests experienced each course of the evening’s meal at a different place in and around Courthouse Square. The Speakeasy Lounge provided our cocktail hour at the Tech Belt Energy Innovations Center, and Cockeye BBQ provided appetizers at Trumbull Art Gallery. The second half of the evening featured a choice of dinner at either the Speakeasy Lounge, or the Saratoga, and finally coffee and dessert at Nova Coffee Co. Beyond the exquisite quality of the food, and atmosphere of each venue, the experience we had with each business and organization could not be matched. We had just over one hundred guests, many who had not been to either of these locations, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

It was a lovely evening, and allowed MVCAP to highlight our work with students in a unique way. We provide services to high school students in our partner schools, helping them to apply to post-secondary programs including college, and career and technical training. This work is vital in helping young people establish education and career goals and work to achieve them. Establishing a great fundraising event can help programs like ours gain the visibility and support we need to continue to serve communities.

We could not be happier with the results of the evening, but more importantly our decision to have that event in downtown Warren. We would like to extend a warm thank you to the City of Warren, all of the aforementioned businesses and organizations, and the community members who have embraced our program. We hope you will join us next year!
